Optimization of the converter-BeO 2 step target for 6He production done on MCNPX. x5 gain factor is obtained for a final production of 1.1e14 6He/s with an incident 200kW, 2 GeV proton beam. Temperature profiles and BeO release properties are yet to be determined.
