TASK 5   -
In target yields for EURISOL RIB production

25/01/2010 -Task : TASK 5
Author(s) :D. Ene, S. Chabod, J.-C. David, D. Ridikas

The goal of this paper is the estimation of the in-target neutron-induced fission fragment productions using the most recent optimized design of the EURISOL converter-fission target assembly. Submitted to EPJA.
TASK 5   -
EURISOL Desktop Assistant Toolkit' (EDAT): A Modeling, Simulation and Visualization Support to the Preliminary Radiological Assessment of RIB Projects

25/01/2010 -Task : TASK 5
Author(s) :D. Vamanu, B. Vamanu, V. Acasandrei, E. Maceika, A. Plukis

The paper describes an approach taken within EURISOL-DS project (European Isotope Separation On-Line Radioactive Ion Beam Facility) to a number of safety and radioprotection issues raised by the advent of radioactive ion beam facilities in the cutting edge area of particle accelerators. The ensuing solution emerged from a collaborative effort of the investigating team-in-charge, affiliated with ‘Horia Hulubei’ National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering in Bucharest, with expert colleagues at the Physics Institute in Vilnius, and at CERN.

TASK 5   -
MODELING OF NEUTRON AND PHOTON TRANSPORT IN IRON AND CONCRETE RADIATION SHIELDS BY USING MONTE CARLO METHOD - VERSION 2

29/07/2009 -Task : TASK 5
Author(s) :A. Zukauskaite, R. Plukiene A. Plukis, D. Ridikas

Particle accelerators and other high energy facilities produce penetrating ionizing radiation (neutrons and γ-rays) that must be shielded. The objective of this work was to model photon and neutron transport in various materials, usually used as shielding, such as concrete, iron or graphite. Monte Carlo method allows obtaining answers by simulating individual particles and recording some aspects of their average behavior. In this work several nuclear experiments were modeled: AVF 65 – γ-ray beams (1-10 MeV), HIMAC and ISIS-800 – high energy neutrons (20-800 MeV) transport in iron and concrete. The results were then compared with experimental data.
TASK 11 -
In-target rare nuclei production rates with EURISOL single-stage configuration

23/06/2009 -Task : TASK 11
Author(s) :S. P. Chabod, N. Thiollière, J.-Ch. David, D. Ridikas, V. Blideanu, D. Doré, D. Ene

To be submitted in NIM or ... abstract ------- We conducted calculations of exotic nuclei production rates for 320 configurations of EURISOL (European Isotope Separation On-Line Radioactive Ion Beam Facility) direct spallation targets. The nuclei yields were evaluated using neutron generation-transport codes, completed with evolution calculations to account for nuclei decays and low energy neutron interactions. The yields were optimized for 11 selected elements (Li, Be, Ne, Mg, Ar, Ni, Ga, Kr, Sn, Hg, Fr) and 23 of their isotopes, as function of the target compositions and geometries as well as the incident proton beam energies. For the considered elements, we evaluated the yield distributions as functions of the charge and mass numbers using two different spallation models.
TASK 4   -
Electron beam-plasma ionizing target for the production of neutron-rich nuclides

22/06/2009 -Task : TASK 4
Author(s) :V. Panteleev, A. Barzakh, S. Essabaa et al.

The production of neutron rich Ag, In and Sn isotopes from a UC target of high density has been investigate at the IRIS facility. An electron beam-plasma ion source has been used to ionize the species produced.
TASK 4   -

26/05/2009 -Task : TASK 4
Author(s) :G. Lhersonneau, O. Alyakrinskiy, O. Bajeat et al.

Production of on-line mass separator neutron rich isotopes using fission induced by 1 GeV protons on high density uranium carbide has been investigate and results compared with the low density targets yields.
